It is the other half of Mamaia's landscape: the sand bar lies between sea and lake, and on the lakeshore there are boating clubs, a wakeboard school and restaurants with terraces facing the sunset.
About the place
Siutghiol covers about 20 km² and is up to 18 m deep; the name comes from the Turkish Süt Göl, 'milk lake'. On the western side, 500 m from the town of Ovidiu, lies Ovidiu Island with a restaurant. The Mamaia shore has jetties and boating bases of Constanța's sports clubs and universities.
The water is calmer than the sea, which makes the lake good for first wakeboard lessons; in summer Wakeboard Constanța runs wakeboard and wakesurf sessions with an instructor, equipment and boat. Lakeside restaurants such as Harlequin or On Plonge Jr. have terraces facing the sunset.
Good to know
- Come in the evening: the lake lies west of the resort and the sun sets over the water.
- Wakeboard sessions run in summer only and should be booked ahead, on the website or by WhatsApp.
- The boats to Ovidiu Island had no confirmed timetable in 2026; ask at the jetty before making plans.
