It is what made the village known, and it holds 4.3 on Google from more than 1,000 reviews.
About the place
Vama Veche was founded in 1811 by Gagauz settlers under the name Yilanlîk; today's name, meaning 'old customs', came after 1913, when the customs post moved further south. From the 1970s, university staff from Cluj spent every summer here and brought a bohemian air, and the demolition of the village that began in 1989 was stopped by the Revolution. Since 2003 the Stufstock festival has been held on the beach.
The seafront has bars and terraces with music, and in summer the beach is full, especially at weekends. It holds 4.3 on Google from 1,086 reviews; some praise the free-spirited atmosphere, others complain about crowds and litter on peak days.
Good to know
