Why it's on the list

It is why almost all of the more than 230,000 arrivals recorded between September 2025 and August 2026 come here, most of them between June and September.

About the place

The beach faces east, so it gets the morning sun. It is lined by Aleea Promenadei, the Obelisk and Lake Costinești, which a strip of sand separates from the sea. To the south, past Hotel Forum, there is a smaller natural beach in a bay; to the north the sand runs on to the Evangelia wreck.

The beach is being widened by a coastal protection project: along about 2.7 km, with five breakwaters, it should reach about 25 hectares and an average width of about 100 metres. In May 2026 the works were still under way. In summer 2026 some visitors complained that near the Obelisk little room was left for towels between the rental sunloungers.

Good to know

  • Lifeguards and sunloungers are on the beach only in the summer season; at other times, take care in the water.
  • If you want space for a towel near the Obelisk, come early in the morning.
  • Aleea Promenadei has terraces along the whole southern stretch of the beach.
